Get in the Game: Hoover-Ball Returns with a New Location and Fresh Energy

The fast-paced, crowd-favorite Hoover-Ball National Championship Tournament returns to Hoover’s Hometown Days in historic West Branch, Iowa, and this year’s setup promises more action, more energy, and better access to all the fun.

NEW this year! The adult tournament is moving to Village Green—right across from the West Branch Fire Station—to bring the excitement right into the middle of Saturday’s festival festivities. Spectators will love the central location, and players will enjoy easy access to the festival and food vendors throughout the day.

Adult Tournament Details – Saturday, August 9, 2025

• Games begin at 9:00 AM and the championship match is scheduled for 6:00 PM

• No on-site registration will be allowed, register online at hooverdays.org/hooverball.

• Each team member must register individually using the online form

• Register by July 22 to receive the exclusive tournament t-shirt

• Final deadline to register is Thursday, August 7th

• Food and drink options include food trucks on Main Street (Saturday only) and food/alcohol sales by West Branch Fire Department (Friday and Saturday)

• BYOB is allowed in Village Green only, but we encourage supporting the local volunteer firefighters!

  
  

This year’s tournament is being hosted by West Branch Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Hoover-Ball volunteer committee which coordinates the festival as a whole.

Youth Hoover-Ball – A Friday Night Tradition

The Youth Hoover-Ball Tournament returns to Village Green on Friday, August 8 at 4:00 PM. This long-standing tradition gives area youth the chance to compete, have fun, and kick off the festival weekend with some unique and friendly competition.

Youth participants register individually and note their Team Name on the form. All players receive a t-shirt (July 22 deadline), and winners will earn individual medals.

Divisions:

• Division I – Grades 4–5 (Co-Ed)

• Division II – Grades 6–7 (Co-Ed)

• Division III-F – Girls, Grades 8–9 & Division III-M – Boys, Grades 8–9 (Divisions III-M and III-F may be combined based on registrations)

Learn the Game or Practice Before the Tournament

Whether you're new to Hoover-Ball or just want to sharpen your skills, take advantage of the opportunities leading up to the tournament to practice with our Hoover-Ball equipment.

We'll be hosting Open Practice Nights at Wapsi Park this summer. All ages (youth and adult) are welcome to attend open learn-to-play/practice sessions on July 16, 23, and 30 at Wapsi Park. These casual gatherings are a great way to get comfortable with the game and connect with other players.
